Welcome, Storytellers

Writing for me is a craftsmanship

You can learn the basics to form a story, but it will take years for you to master it. Even then, you can still grow as a writer to better your art. Without a doubt, writing is a life-long endeavor.

Just like any of you, my first attempt at fiction writing is when I was 8 years old. They were short stories. I took inspiration from children books, including Donald Duck magazine and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s books to create brand new characters and stories. Furthermore, I sell the short stories to my classmates for IDR 1,000 per page (equivalent to USD 0.068 today). Writing was thrilling and fun because I got positive feedback.

I managed to compile my writings into novella-length books (almost 30,000 words each). I self-published Orphic Tales, four science-fiction short stories, in July 2018. My first attempt was to sell the book to my friends and family, which turned inefficient quickly. A year later, I self-published Kaleidoscope, a short story collection and by then, I re-strategized my marketing plan. I signed consignment contracts with independent bookstores in Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia. This turned to better sales and I got some reviews on Goodreads.

The problem with writing is that we have so many questions in mind. First, we don’t know where to start. Even if we have an idea, we don’t know how to begin writing and more importantly, to continue the momentum. We aspiring authors have lingering questions, such as “Do I write good enough?” or “Can I be famous?”. Chances are your favorite request to others is “I’m writing a story about X. Would you like to read it?” We hope to hear a positive review (a.k.a. the reader likes it) or a constructive feedback at the very least.

Here's what I can offer to you

Hi, I'm Griselda

I’m a self-published author with a specialty in short stories. In my first book, Orphic Tales, I researched about genome research and prosthetics. In my second book, Kaleidoscope, I used the Giselle ballet show to symbolize a tragedy. Working on my third book, Solivagant, I learned Italian language to use in conversation. Writing takes a lot of effort but it doesn’t need to be a lonesome journey. Let’s have a chat to inspire each other.
